Compass school required extra covered outdoor space during the pandemic to aid their social distancing for pupils effort. We supplied a 9-meter x 9-meter frame tent which as you will see from the images below, lent itself to a variety of uses, including a theatre for the school play. Adding some lighting and lining to a marquee can transform the use, look and functionality.

As wedding tents go, this was quite a long marquee, due to social distancing, this July 2021 couple required a larger covered space for fewer guests. Two sides of the marquee have our full-size clear sides which are removable should the weather allow. It also has our redwood hardwood flooring which looks splendid in the sunlight.

New Century Wedding Marquees From Around Scotland
A selection of New Century Wedding Marquees from Fife, East Lothian, Northumberland, and Glasgow. These tents were erected for end of July weddings. There are 40 ft x 40 ft marquees. 40 ft x 80 ft marquees and 40 ft x 120 ft marquees, all with our redwood hardwood flooring, separate catering marquees which are used by caterers as a temporary kitchen, food preparation and area from which to serve food. Couples seem to be liking our full size clear walls, some opting to have these clear walls on 3 sides, this allows for much more light to enter the marquee and also opens up many new decorating ideas to creative-minded weddings planners. They were also supplied with generators to power the lighting and PA system. For generator hire for wedding marquees, we use GGS Generators exclusively, as George’s service and support are legendary in the industry. Fire extinguishers are also an important requirement when hiring a marquee. You are welcome to supply your own, or you can add them to your requirements when asking for a quotation.

Customer built and supplied their own bar - Pretty good job we think!
Having moved almost all of our 2020 marquee hire bookings to this summer, it looked as if we were going to have to move them all again to 2022. As more people have been vaccinated and restrictions are starting to ease, we see some weddings going ahead this year; we have five this weekend alone. Having your Marquee Wedding Hire During COVID Restrictions in 2021 has proved impossible for some, but other couples have worked within the guidelines and are managing to pull it off.
A Large (80ft x 40ft) New Century Marquee in a garden for a wedding
Open sides, larger tents for smaller numbers, more outdoor seating and bar areas, propane heaters, back gardens as opposed to country estate locations are some of the changes that have had to be implemented to tie the knot while keeping everyone safe while enjoying their big day in the company of family and friends.
With travel restricted too, some folks have opted to postpone again until next year to allow overseas visitors to attend, indeed, some of our brides and grooms are based in South Africa, Australia, South America and cant travel themselves due to restrictions of various governments, airlines, quarantines etc.
40ft x 40ft Marquee in a private garden for an intimate wedding in Summer 2021
At Myreton, we have tried to accommodate every request for new dates, change of venue, larger tents, extra tents, not only for weddings, but anniversaries, birthday parties, engagement parties, garden parties, highland games, country fair, game fares, sports events and races, you name it, we have accommodated change to the bookings of all these and many more.
As we look towards the latter part of the summer and early autumn and restrictions continue to be relaxed, we are already seeing increased enquiries for marquee hire as people are keen to have their weddings and events sooner, rather than later. We have availability in September and October on a number of weekends, please check your venue has availability on the dates you require before enquiring with us. I know that Craig Wood at the Seton Garden has some availability around then, as does Kevin Crawford in the Borders. Toilet blocks, generator hire, table and chair hire, caterers etc, are all working as normal and have available capacity.
Linda, who manages our bookings, has worked tirelessly over the last 18 months, to ensure that our happy couples remain happy, not an easy task when you consider that we also have the NHS contract to supply, erect and maintain, NHS Test and Trace tentage throughout Scotland which she has also been coordinating, but she has managed to achieve just that!
Well done and a big thanks to everyone in the Myreton office for your professionalism and commitment.

Fabulous Farmyard Fun Wedding in a Myreton Marquee Hire
John and Emma reached out to us during the lockdown to share some photos of their wedding marquee hire at their farm near Garvald in East Lothian, Scotland. Joining two 9 Meter Clearspan Marquees side by side created a massive floorspace for all their guests to enjoy the ceremony and festivities in comfort.
Unusual Marquee Location Makes Perfect Wedding Venue
The happy couple chose to have their wedding marquee hire erected inside one of the large sheds at the farm steading which had been spruced up for the big day. A smaller marquee just outside the wedding marquee provided an excellent entranceway for the guests who had a short walk from a nearby field which was the car park for the day.
As you can see from the photos the vast space of the two marquees allowed John and Emma to get creative and use items from their farm to create a stunning look for the wedding, we just love the bar made from pallets!
Our beautiful Giant Redwood marquee flooring covered the barn surface and added to the rustic look and feel of the wedding and also provided a well-used dancefloor.
Many congratulations to Emma and John on your marriage and creativeness from everyone at Myreton Marquee Hire.

With so many wedding marquee hire options available, it’s easier than ever to hold a stunning outdoor wedding at any time of year. In November 2018, Myreton Marquee Hire was delighted to be a part of Adelaide and Ruaraidh’s stunning nuptials in a private garden in Perthshire.
The romantic and lively wedding embraced the season’s warm tones and cosy charm in both its design and its spirit. The couple opted for a 120 x 140 ft new century tent, which was ideal for toasting, dancing, and celebrating. The polished American redwood flooring provided the perfect space for a glitzy central bar, as well as room for a live guitarist and saxophone player to kick off the merriment and bring guests to the dance floor.
The tent’s clear side panels allowed for an abundance of natural light to flood into the marquee, as well as providing the perfect protection in case of a sudden burst of Scottish rain! In addition to outdoor seating, the couple also chose to add a 9 square metre chill-out zone to their layout. Guests were able to step into a charming and comfortable haven with floral sofas, luxurious rugs, and traditional lamps. The marquee was specifically designed to optimise space, ensuring that the food was kept in its own 9-metre x 6-metre catering tent. In fact, Ruaraidh was an expert in this area of the wedding planning as a chef offering dining services himself for a variety of events. Like Adelaide, his catering company focuses on local and homegrown ingredients and a love of the natural world.
Here are some other images of a winter castle wedding in Aberdeenshire a couple of years ago to give you some idea of how a marquee is the perfect venue any time of year.
We supply extremely warm marquee heaters for winter marquee hires.
